This happened after I left, but Roddy filled me in. I have to mention some physical characteristics of someone but there is nothing racist about it—just fact of life. Just as white people often have a wide variety of tone to their skin, so can blacks. In this particular case, the gentleman was very dark—almost shiny black—as well as bald. He seemed to celebrate his color because he generally wore black clothes which enhanced the appearance. He was also tall and stood ramrod straight, like a Marine DI. Although he was a supervisor, he was a nice guy.
At some point, he had some sort of accident necessitating a cervical collar for a period of time. With the stark contrast between the white collar and the rest of the black ensemble, the lads couldn't resist naming him “Dark Vader.”
